Individual Therapy

You might come to see Judy for all kinds of reasons, such as:

  • Your energy levels and motivation have been low for a long time
  • You’re noticing that those ‘worry thoughts’ are pretty constant
  • There’s a numb feeling that drifts in and out of your days
  • You’re feeling disconnected in your relationships with family or friends
  • You have lost something or someone important
  • Those upsetting thoughts about your body are really getting you down

Other times, people talk about feeling that although their life looks ok on the outside, it’s like something’s missing, or not quite right on the inside.

Adolescent Therapy

If you are a young person, you may be having troubles with:

  • friends,
  • upsetting feelings,
  • motivation at school, and being productive
  • annoying or distracting thoughts
  • fights at home
  • upsetting or compulsive behaviours like self harm or skin picking
  • restricting food/eating more than you would like
  • generally feeling a bit out of control of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour

Judy offers a relaxed, informal style of working with young people, with some email support in between sessions when appropriate. This additional support can really enhance the formal sessions with more immediate ‘life hacks’ when they are needed.

Family Work

Judy has completed extra training in family therapy, so she often invites parents/caregivers into parts of her work with adolescents. This Systems work can greatly enhance the therapy, shifting both parent/s and the adolescent into a more helpful dynamic with one another.

Judy can also offer family-specific therapy for some/all of the members of a family. These sessions will usually be of a longer duration (90minutes), and be spaced further apart (monthly) than individual work, to allow the family unit time to experiment with different ways of being at home.

Telehealth

Judy is trained in telehealth (video or telephone) appointments, and is happy to provide these if requested. Research shows telehealth psychology is as effective as face to face, and for some people, can be a very efficient, accessible method of therapy.
Telehealth appointments are also now covered under the Medicare rebate system.
