You have 2 options.
You actually do not need a referral to see a psychologist.
However, if you do get a referral, you will receive a significant concession, ($89.65) of which most people are entitled.
To arrange a referral, you will need to see your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. Let them know you are seeking an appointment to be assessed for a Mental Health Care Plan.
You’ll need to arrange this referral before your first appointment to ensure you receive the Medicare rebate from our first session. At the moment, you are entitled to receive up to 10 rebatable sessions per calendar year. These also include telehealth appointments.
For your convenience, we offer automatic processing of your rebate so it will automatically be sent to your account within 24 hours of your appointment.
A 1-hour session costs $204. Payment is made through an automated credit card system we provide for fast and easy payments. You may be entitled to a substantial Medicare Rebate.
Standard individual sessions are 60 minutes. Extended family sessions are 90 minutes in length and are priced at $308. As they incorporate focused psychological strategies such as parent training they also attract the Medicare rebate.
We do provide some after-hours appointments between 4-7pm.
Judy is trained in telehealth (video or telephone) appointments, and is happy to provide these if requested. Research shows telehealth psychology is as effective as face to face, and for some people, can be a very efficient, accessible method of therapy. Telehealth appointments are also now covered under the Medicare rebate system.
Coming to see Judy at Connect2Change Psychology, you can expect a warm, welcoming space to slow down and reflect on life, as well as a place to clarify your goals and hopes of how you want to move differently through the world. You can expect her to be an active and playful therapist, with lots of ideas to try, helpful ways of seeing yourself and the world, and new and different kinds of conversation than what you’ve had before with partners, friends and family.
Judy aims to assist people to start to see some change within a few sessions. Of course, more tricky problems can require more time.
But Judy hopes to create an active process, where her goal is to help you try new and more helpful behaviours outside of sessions as soon as possible. Judy’s therapy aims to help you manage your thoughts and feelings better, in order to get your back out in the world and live the life you prefer.
Because there are now up to 10 sessions a year that can be rebated through Medicare, more affordable therapy means you can take the time it needs to make the changes you wish to make.
